Paying my rent & having fun doing things with software. For ⛴️ ferry companies. Using 🐍 Python and MS Dynamics NAV. Mixed language 🇬🇧/🇩🇪 toots.
If you speak 🐍 #Python, please say hi!
When not doing computer stuff, I enjoy friendly board games 🎲, riding my bike 🚲, radio 📻📡, eurovision 🇪🇺📺, other languages 🇩🇰 🇪🇸, baking & cooking 🍕🍲 and having my current favorite song 🎶on repeat-1.

@unicorn Mainly because of the poem in Four Weddings and a Funeral.

@mdione some of these will magically turn into question marks - but at least you can now book your trip (after a quick fix directly after launch)
More technically, anything from code page 850 will work, the rest may break…
@petrillic Good luck. I’m currently involved with replacing Citrix with simple RDP. Citrix solved our remote access problem on super slow data connections two decades ago. It was great then and I’m glad when I can say goodbye to it next month.
Do you remember the times when special characters like German Umlauts broke APIs and workflows? I remember it like yesterday.
In other news, we finally launched that new booking website, which was a long running project to replace a workflow old enough to vote.
We did this yesterday…

Der Februar ist gestartet - ich freue mich schon auf‘s #Biike Fest in drei Wochen.
I wouldn't do it - it messes with tools that extract data from the docstrings.
if I was too lazy to comment every line, I'd do an
"if False:" block with the code that's not supposed to run.
GUI editors offer shortcuts to comment/un-comment large code blocks. Use those (or learn a vim macro to do the same)
@paulox Did the same.
For everyon who has not filled in/out the survey yet - there's a question about how you like it at the end where you can enter freeform answers.
Like commenting on the mandatory questions that you had to fill with random answers to continue (rather than having a "I don't know" option...)
Over all the questions made sense...
Hey #blind #linux users. Quick question. What is the most accessible linux desktop these days?
Is it still mate, or how are we doing.
Context: I want to try to switch from Windows, and I'm fine spending some time setting things up, but I don't want to have a 30 min debug session every time I want to use my computer
"The blood was only ever a means to an end," the vampire confessed in the interview.
"To what end?" the reporter asked.
"Blood carries vigor, life force, vital energy. That's what we feed on."
"So how do you get it, if not through blood?"
"These days, we make doom scrolling apps to drain it."
@ramgarlic I don’t have a link to a text to explain more, but you can quickly build a Python people to follow list by looking at who other Python people follow.
@ramgarlic in short: no algos, your timeline is filled with what the people you follow either post themselves or what they boost. You can also follow and search hashtags (or block them).
Downloading and installing from folders works fine with pip. When I started with Python, I frequently visited Christoph Gohlke‘s Pages (mirrored here: http://qiniucdn.star-lai.cn/portal/2016/09/05/tu3p2vd4znn) which were the place to get Python dependencies for Windows. Should PyPI be unavailable for a longer period I’m sure something like this will pop up again.
