I mean the search icon on the top left.

To me the context is centered. So are the categories at the top. But search is out of context to the left.

Being mainly a terminal user, I always have to look for the search icon, when I occasionally use the Software Center.

Please make it more obvious in Gnome Software Center, that there actually is a search function.

Why place it so much out context?

The same pattern goes again with backend services built as micro services. Small services with an independent domain that is easy to grasp

But there is also a penalty when intercommunication with other applications are needed. Every part needs to be able to communicate together
