@stas_czekalski I wish Eastern Europe had a stronger presence in this niche back then -- it would have surely come through our very quirky lens, but at least we were eventually blessed with @pekurek’s early work (although he will probably hate me for associating him with all this "folktronica nonsense") haha

The 2000s were full of that glitchy IDM folksy sometimes guitar stuff but this Secret Mommy LP was easily one of the craziest of the bunch.

Looking back it’s a bit of a mixed bag but you could draw a straight line from this to Shuta Hasunuma, Sora, Childisc (❤️), Dorine Muraille, Fridge, Cokiyu - even, hell, to Four Tet, Dntel, Colleen, The Books and Múm (which weirdly enough always ended up under the post-rock umbrella)
