Just watched “Sinners” and it was an excellent horror movie that I would absolutely watch again. If you like horror, blues, or Michael B. Jordan, go watch it!

I’ve had an interesting few days. Was the sickest I’ve ever been for three days straight with a terrible fever and aches. Went to the doctor, the illness is mysterious, got blood tests, and was prescribed an antibiotic. Today, when everything is closed, I learned that I am allergic to that antibiotic. Besides being itchy, I’m at least feeling much better.

She’s super close to her goal as of today, so thank you to everyone that helped and shared. She’s feeling much more hopeful, that’s for sure!

Had quite the awkward moment, today. Brought my vehicle in for inspection, and when finished, I was told to pick it up right out front. I walked out the door, saw my vehicle, and hopped in to drive home… except, it was really dirty inside. And there was another key fob in the car? Omg, this isn’t my car! 😨

I hopped out, told the attendant what happened, and he directed me to my actual, same model, some color vehicle four spots away. #embarrassed

They always claim there is no threat to our jobs. Sure, I won’t be fired because they still need someone to mindlessly click buttons. But they are taking away the parts of the job I enjoy, and replacing them with something that steals art and rehashes it into something mediocre with no heart.

But their solution of using AI to do the heavy lifting is making the work miserable and low quality. Now the artist/designer doesn’t get to do the actual thing they are experts at, and AI generates the layouts, designs, placement, and imagery. But it can only do an ok job, and we have to clean it up. Now the worker is expected to do even more work since we’ve been gifted these tools of efficiency.

They present it as a way to be more efficient in your work. I do love efficiency, but their idea of saving time is to take away doing the actual work and leave me with doing the refinement. There is a lack of understanding around how artists/designers create, and where we could be more efficient. The problem is approached from the business perspective of “How do we make the work happen faster so we can do more work?” because time is money and hiring more people to do the work is more money.

We had a visit at work from a popular company that is heavily pushing AI as one of its products and solutions to help us. While sitting through one of the sessions, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I really hate AI as a graphic designer. And now I have a rant.

It’s that wonderful time of year where it’s a billion degrees outside, but I’m carrying around a hoodie because all the stores have their AC cranked so high that it’s painful.

Walking back to our hotel in #nyc to see this. We cannot figure what it is. An entrance to a club? It says “Jonathan Schwartz Productions” at the end, but that just pulls up an obituary and another guy who does entertainment for a nearby restaurant. Thinking it’s the second one, but then what is THIS?
