I've had an action cam for *years*, and I've never taken it out of the box.

Okay, hear me out:
A crypto mining rig setup, but instead of GPUs, it's optical drives that you can connect to over iSCSI.
This tree ornament sure is hard to photograph
What the hell happened to cheap, generic tower cases?
I don't need RGB, or a glass/acrylic side-panel, or a case that looks like something from the background of a Michael Bay movie.
I want a boring black/beige box that will hold some parts together, for under $80. Why is that so much to ask?!
Our internet connection keeps going out.
Apparently it's going to be one of *those* days.
I have discovered rlwrap, and it is *exactly* what I was looking for.
Everyone *vastly* underestimates how difficult it is for me to ask for anything.
It's that time of year (in the northern hemisphere) when pests like mice and rats are looking for somewhere warm to nest for the winter.
This is your reminder that glue-traps are *unethical, cruel, and indiscriminate*. They can even pose an equal, or worse, threat to domestic animals, including cats and dogs, to that of poison.
*Please*, consider using fast-killing, or better yet, no-kill traps, and safely removing your tiny home invaders, without causing them, or any other creatures, undue stress and harm.
Foil tape works better than duct tape for aligning monitors.
Good to know.
Oh my god.
Exet could be the answer to managing my compute cluster. I can use it to start individual ssh sessions for each node, then selectively choose which nodes to send commands to.
Not only could it allow me to distribute execution across the network, it can make updating, configuration, and management easier. It's *so perfect* for this! It's almost like I had this goal in mind, even though I hadn't considered this specific application.
I do still need to get backed files and channel activation working, so that I can change file paths after a program is started. But, for now, I can make up that deficit using some shell magic.
For anyone who ever wondered, gaming on a compute cluster does not impact performance. As cool as it would be, no one is making games designed to take advantage of network distributed compute. Adding more computers will not make things better.
I'm not just saying this. I knew, before I ever installed Steam on the head node of my compute network, that it was just going to be gaming on a normal #Linux machine. I just did it for fun, and so that I could say that I'm gaming on a "supercomputer".
@nixCraft Well, at least now everyone has a reason to be a little more conscious of performance and efficiency, rather than relying one everyone and everything have 32GB+ of RAM, the latest high-end CPU, and functionally unlimited storage.
I feel like what most really mean when they say that they're "bad at maths" is, "I had bad teachers, or was taught incorrectly early on, so when I got to the more advanced stuff, I didn't understand the underlying concepts, and got left behind, and now I feel like I'm incapable of ever learning it".
I know that disorders like dyscalculia exist, but I don't believe that that's the main issue for the majority of those who struggle.
How many don't understand what modulo is, because they never really learned what remainders where? How many struggled with multiplication because they were never shown a multiplication table, or were never taught how to count by certain common factors, like twos, threes, and fives? Is it really their failure, or was it a failure of the system?
I certainly didn't expect that I would end up having to try and explain Hawking radiation today.
That was interesting.
Here is a small tip: to easily configure your installed FreeBSD, use the `bsdconfig` command as the root user. A lot of FreeBSD users or developers (including some IT/sysadmin folks) don't know this, but you can use `bsdconfig` to set up many system configuration settings, both for new systems and for changing settings on existing systems.
I haven't heard The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny in *years*, yet it popped into my head, and I realized that I can still recite *all the lyrics*, from memory.
Where the hell am I storing this information? Why can't I put something *useful* there instead?!
When you have people stuff to do...
Remember to use inclusive language in the workplace.
Instead of, "Guys, I need to use the bathroom. ", try, "I must tend to the needs of the flesh, or I shall surely parish!"
Normal programming languages: "This is a variable. It represents an internal unit of storage that has a limited lifetime, value, and scope, depending on the context in which it was declared. If it is to be shared, it is the responsibility of the programmer to apply the appropriate synchronization."
Exet: "This is a channel. It is a global symbol representing some internal, or external, data resource. It is always synchronized within its locality. The higher the locality, the more exclusive the associated resource is to a singular task. Any task may access it, but the locality, and context of the task determines the extent to which its value is shared."
I am so stubborn about not using AI.
You have no idea.
I will even go as far as writing my own texts, drawing my own images, writing my own code, and reading the whole article or email just by myself. Crazy stuff.
