Of course they won't give lifetime updates. But still it is not a subscription. You can use the app as long as it works on your machine, with no additional cost.
I have an older version of Affinity Designer. It's still usable, I don't need new features, so I didn't pay for the update.

I've been archiving and removing my notes from my old #Evernote account. I must say, it's performance (at least on Firefox) is awful and I'm happy I switched to alternatives (right now - #obsidian, and #nimbusnotes before that) long time ago. It's unusable, loading takes minutes, and it feels like 2001.

Is anyone still using Evernote? Is there any good thing about it (except being locked in with notes)?

#PiwikPro is one of the privacy-centric tools, battery included, and a quite generous free plan. It's not only analytics but also tag manager and consent manager. It's quite easy to configure.

There are also tools like Plausible Analytics and Fathom Analytics, but I haven't tested them.

@ente please be honest: is Windows app as secure as your mobile apps? From what I know, mobile OS-es are better secured in terms of keeping apps data safe. So, my concern is that maybe having the app on desktop is less secure convenience, and maybe I should use web version instead.
