Seriously, this is such a basic hack, but it's been a game-changer for me. For ages, I had both and Google constantly open, driving me a little crazy with all the back and forth. Now, one click and I'm there 😉. So simple, so helpful.

Elon Musk really needs to review whatever committee approves these community plugins. I mean he really does.

@paulk albeit not being a specific note taking tool for writers. I’m very fond of #Obsidian. #selfhosted sync for notes; Everything in sync on all my devices. Interlinking between notes and folders.

What makes Joplin special?

I thought I managed to get Obsidian working with Nextcloud sync on Android but it's trickier than I thought and it doesn't quite work... but it may work enough for my needs right now.

Now that I have all my in , there's so many possibilities. For example, there's are, of course, plugins for reading files in Obsidian 🤯. Not to mention all other amazing features, like setting it up to download the recent news.

I’ve also realized that gmail is just kind if a mediocre product. The UI is clunky and the integration across account products, e.g. mail to calendar, sucks ass and can’t be easily modified. This has been my experience with most monolith services, but its taken me a while to realize that I don’t need them at all, as long as I can find a replacement host.

Looking for a way to manage a dynamic calendar across devices that isn’t google calendar, too. Maybe that can be done with #obsidian?

Ooh this is interesting. I'm using #Obsidian Canvas to stay focused on just a handful of things, and plan what's next and what I need to not forget. Loosely based on ATC flight progress strips.

The idea is that the thing you're working on _now_ should be at the top, and then progressively less important things should be smaller, and lower down.

Here I've moved them in to a 'cruising' group on the right, and shrunk their cards. So they're still there, not forgotten, but they're not the main thing I'm focusing on right now. And now I move those cards around, updating them with progress, based on what I'm doing now and next.

Ideally I'd customise this with code, but out of the box Obsidian's Canvas is good enough as a proof-of-concept.

Stock photograph of air traffic control flight progress strips.Obsidian Canvas screenshot. My notes are represented as blocks. On the left I have my high-priority 'landing' group with one note. That's what I'm doing right now. On the right is a lower-priority 'cruising' group with a few notes, some of which are minimised. And below I have a closed group labelled 'check-in open'.

Now that I've moved over here to Hachyderm, I suppose it's time for a new introduction.

I'm a mechanical engineer and cyclist that is interested in just about everything and constantly learning. My project list is forever growing, but most of it is taken care of by #FreeCAD, #octoprint, #3dPrinting, #python, #obsidian, and a variety of other #foss tools.

I'm also a #bluegrass and #ska musician, playing #guitar, #UprightBass, and #mandolin. I never said I was great, but I have a lot of fun making music.

I like to try and help people wherever I can because a lot of people have helped me over the years. The #fediverse is full of wonderful people, and I've learned so much and had such positive interactions with people from all over the world since joining in 2022.

Let's keep it going!

For as long as I can remember, I always deeply enjoyed writing about whatever comes to my mind, be it thoughts or experiences. It feels like part of my DNA to express myself - especially in writing.

I am, after all, an avid writer, a passionate author of my own state of mind.

Thus I created this simple personal blog, Chronicles of Silence, freed from any requirements or expectations, any themes or affiliations. Feel free to visit :)

Great success.

- MacOS X: windows registry analogue
- ls ~/.local/
- ls -la ~/

/Applications/Obsidian.app/Contents/MacOS/Obsidian

Lenovo Legion.

What kind of maintenance do you do in Obsidian? I update my plugin and themes regularly, perform multiple daily backups via GitHub, Time Machine and Sync, keep my attachments organized, clean out my inbox, keep an eye on untagged notes. You?
