Spirit have been knocking at the door for a while but I didn't expect Kate Weisner to be the one to score! A great turn-and-shoot for the rookie's first pro goal.

Weisner is the 3rd rookie to score for the Spirit this year and something like the eighth or ninth Spirit player to score.

@nwsl Interestingly, Bethune's not in the starting XI for the Spirit. Hopefully they're just resting her, but after a 2 week international break in which she didn't play, it's a little concerning.

With Bethune out, the Spirit have gone to a five back with Hal & Andi the only midfielders.

New Busy Watching Women's Sports Video - this one on Alyssa Thompson. Bridey argues that Angel City isn't doing enough to help this phenomenal young talent develop. The clip around 12:20 where she has to defend Marta and, when she predictably fails (she's a 19 year old forward! and Marta is Marta!) collapses in despair is just brutal.

And a header from Ordóñez pulls us even! Ordóñez had such a solid rookie year, breaking the record for goals in a rookie season. Probably would have won ROTY 2022 wasn't Naomi Girma's rookie year too. She had a much quieter sophmore year with the Dash...hope this is a return to form for her.
