100% agree. It's the most insidious part of it all (well, nearly): convincing governments of SRM viability/success likelihood is inevitably going to disincentivise fossil fuel drawdown as mitigation measure

Let's say we have two possible routes to mitigate #ClimateChange

One we know will work. We have for years possessed the technical ability to implement it and the social justice mindfulness to ensure sustainable development in growing economies and a just transition for workers in polluting industries

Another we have no idea how or even if it will work. We have no idea who will govern it, how it will be paid for, implemented, maintained, regulated. We know there are potentially enormous side effects that could lead to all sorts of problems, from termination shock to the collapse of global weather systems. The potential for the cure being worse than the problem is enormous
