Why not make more use of Mastodon and Fediverse for #EU official accounts?
I am tired to see EU officials communications from platforms with an agenda that has conflicts with EU values.
I mean you have @EUCommission and its instance just right there.

@paulasimoes @philly_phlip I had some (Swiss) clients that used Infomaniak services. They seemed decent, could be an interesting EU alternative.
As for AI, apart from currently assembling my own private service with Open WebUI and (EU based and renewable powered) serverless inference, I've been also trialing Le Chat from Mistral AI.

@EUCommission Dear Santa, for next year I want all EU officials to stop using X and use a sovereign social network (like an official Fediverse instance) that shares EU values for their official communications. Yesterday, please!
@EUCommission Everytime I see on the news that the EU Co President, Ursula Von Der Leyen has commented any defining foreign policy and global affair with direct impact on EU through an X account, I throw up in my own mouth.
The fact that our leaders aren't using a sovereign social network speaks way more than volumes. It's a gross sign they still haven't got a starting clue of what's at stake.
I may document this whole process later on a post, quite possibly on a sort to-be-announced-soon personal blog.
(Cue the waiting music.)
I've been doing some experiments with Scaleway Serverless services, OpenWebUI and serverless AI inference providers (Nscale, Nebius) for a more personal AI service, while betting on EU cloud/tech providers with, at least, a bit more commitment to sustainability and renewable energy sources.

@jwildeboer To be honest, one of the many great things about #fediverse, and #mastodon by association, is that control aspect you mentioned, but also the community and organic discourse it enables (comparing to other enshitified platforms).
It's so much more rich (at least for now). I haven't had this kind of quality of communication on any other platform to date.
@ross I'm not really sure but, the answer I reached for myself is somewhat in the line of: vote, organize, take care of yourself and your loved ones, practice and foster empathy and real communities, disconnect, contemplate and care for the plants and nature, try to be radically sustainable as much as possible.
I chose to believe that will compound and will push for others to change, even by a little. I can't afford not to.

@kaye I'm trying to make juice using Open Juicero at the edge (in my kitchen counter near the edge) running in my home infrastructure and renewable energy, to try and keep some sort of sanity as juice-maker in today's juice industry. Local self-produced juice if I may say.
