I'm reading the #eurostack policy study, "Time to Build a European Digital Ecosystem," from Dec 2024.
First thing that stands out: The study is presented (1) as an embedded (and downloadable) PDF, (2) with a TOC that lacks hyperlinks, and (3) extensive footnotes lacking backlinks to their occurrence in the main text, and I'm feeling like this is an allegory for something.
Folks, there are lessons to be taken from Silicon Valley, regardless how we feel about them now. Regardless of monopolistic intentions, friction elimination in pursuit of one's goal is critical. There is a lot of good stuff in this proposal. But if I have to leave my browser, or worse yet, look through a tiny viewport embedded in my browser to get at the information, you have already lost me.
Fewer headshots and more forward motion, please.
