While alexithymia is commonly linked to deficits in emotion perception, our latest study suggests a different relationship :
- Higher alexithymia scores were linked to higher arousal ratings and better emotion recognition, but only when emotional cues were weak (40% intensity).
- Different alexithymia facets had contrasting effects.
