Chronically sleep-deprived queer with a severe lack of focus. English immigrant in Scotland. Railway obsessor; tea brewer; computer toucher; player of obscure games. Usually thinking about Doctor Who.
Generalist computer toucher, with specialisms in frontend web, sysadmin/ops, and documenting terrifyingly cursed legacy systems. #NHS employee but currently jobhunting; views are my own.
Inveterate instance-hopper (previously: @qenya, @riellepeddler, etc).
Definitely not an eldritch cosmic entity beyond mortal ken. Probably. Well, maybe. Depends who's asking.

We report as nightfall grows nearer: the calls of the chimney swifts echo across the pasture, high-pitched chirps that we have been hearing through the whole evening. In the colder months, the belt of Venus would have been visible, but the horizon remains perfectly clear today.
@trucy curious what the one that isn't NSG is
Dear Contributor,
Thank you for your bug fix. However, we are unable to accept your patch. The bug you spotted is real, but that is a Software Heritage Listed Bug and we're not permitted to alter it.

well while we're at stupid controversies and since this is a fresh account it's a good chance to reiterate some stuff
- fossbros suck
- having principles and sticking with them is cool
- keep politics in free software because it's the only meaningful thing we have
- in a supposedly community project you do what's best for your community (no it doesn't matter what sponsorship $sketchy_entity offers you)
- anyone can be a part of your thing in their own way (it doesn't matter whether they can code, or anything else), meritocracy advocates are full of shit
- look out for those that are vulnerable and give them a comfy space
i probably missed something but you get the idea :3

Hello youths, it is your queer auntie Abadidea back with the advice
I was alerted to a 19yo autistic person who heard "autistic people tend to form their first successful long-term relationship around 30" and concluded that there is then no point to even trying until they're 30. I don't know where this statistic came from or how accurate it is, but that's a bit beside the point, because:
Very few people get into a successful long-term relationship on their very first try. The usual way of things is that two well-meaning young people fall in love and then something goes painfully, messily wrong four months in and they both LEARN something about how to conduct themselves and how to deal with others. Repeat two or three more times until two people who have developed some emotional maturity fall in love. It may take autistic people a little longer on average to iron out the kinks, but they'll get there!
If you decide "I won't even try until I'm 30 because the math says that's when it works out," what's going to happen is that you're going to be 30 with the emotional maturity of a wildly unbalanced 18yo and all the other 30yos are going to be like... yeah, not touching that with a 10-foot pole.
Successful relationships come from practice, not from waiting for the Maturity Fairy to bless you!
can each luna have like a uuid associated with them so i can tell them apart
Hot doctor who take: I always quite like it when doctor who stuff remembers that the doctor became a vegetarian in his sixth incarnation and it's kind of a shame that didn't stick in the new show
the mushroom kingdom could use more trains as this looks worse than germany's highway situation /lh
just to be clear, given the coverage of the most recent post, we don't want to be subject to any conspiracy theories arising from that
so i'll just use this opportunity to declare that we are definitely here to further woke agenda by turning free software gay
A thing that I thought was really cool about the pride parade in my city back when I first encountered it, as a semi-closeted egg, was that at the end of it the people watching would kinda gather up into a big long tail of people on its way to the festival grounds.
At some point that stopped being allowed, basically because the police didn't like it afaik, and it made me very sad. It wasn't until a long time later and several more pride related controversies that I realized that sadness was in part because it was kinda mental cover for participating in the parade when I didn't really understand why I wanted to.
Anyways that's why I'd never say any individual (other than in uniform and/or on duty cops, and even off duty they're treading on thin ice) doesn't belong at pride. Anyone who feels at home among queers deserves a chance to figure out why.
@trucy hell yeah! Happy snippening! Best of luck
@unseenjapan ooooo project mirai! That was a weird little thing that deserved more attention than it got
Pride moths for Pride Month! Did this happen because I just kept misspelling pride month as pride moth? Yes. Did I have a wonderful time interpreting these pride flags as moths? Very much yes!
another thing I love: opening up fedi and seeing that the same five or so usual suspects have seen and liked my posts.
yes, I see you and I love you, friends <3
