JLQ

Retired, married male currently living in Austin, Texas. More info will be found in my introductions post.

Having escaped from Twitter, I'm looking forward to a calmer experience and more welcoming environment here.

Notre Dame vs Georgia is one of those games that makes you sad that there has to be a winner.

Despite the rumors, I have not abandoned this account. I'm not promising to revive it, but will need to update some parts as I will be relocating from Austin, TX to Albuquerque, NM in about a week, which will have a decided effect on my biography.

Speaking of noise, for me, anxiety provides most of the static that prevents me from enjoying life at its richest fidelity.

Well, I'm not subtle enough to be a practicioner of embedded messaging, at least not consciously.

Evidently, my real-life utterances have a very low signal-to-noise ratio, with the result that any important messages get lost in the static.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in oblivion's waiting room.

It's one of those times when escape to sleep offers no solace from wakeful distress, just a different flavor of unease. I could use a quick vacation to Catatonia.

Haven't posted for a while. No promises, but I do have three things for today.

1. I'm very happy about the perfect weather for the Capitol 10k race this morning.
2. I'm happy I was in good enough physical and emotional health to participate in the 10k race.
3. I'm grateful to the anonymous older woman who served as an inspiration/challenge with her impressive walking pace; if not for her presence, I would not have done nearly as well as I did.

Things are looking up today, so that's good. The situation has improved drastically, but it will take me a little while to adjust to it.

I made it. Day 7 of 7-day streak.

1. That which I'd feared and dreaded turned out fine - huge relief.
2. Great talk with my sisters to share the good news and thank them for their support.
3. Celebratory meal with L was great - swaths of bluebonnets and other wild flowers lined the road and the meal was excellent.

Starting later today, the next few days may be some of the most challenging of my life. I will do the best I can to meet them.

Day 6 of 7, belated.
1. Managed to take care of some items on my worry list.
2. The house was still standing.
3. Had a good physical therapy session.

I have a feeling I won't make the streak, but here's day 5 of 7.

1. The house did not collapse today.
2. L is supporting me despite my crazy, and that's wonderful.
3. Talked to my sisters. They helped us clarify our immediate course of action.

7-day streak, day 4.

1. L is helping with the work to get the house ready for inspection, working on the task that would be the most difficult for me, so that's good all around.
2. Talked to my sister on the phone and that helped me get through the day.
3. Managed to achieve almost all the goals I had set for myself for the day.

Day 3 of my 7-day streak.

1. Good appointment with my cardiologist - no changes in my condition.
2. The lawn got mowed.
3. Against my every impulse and desire, made the phone calls necessary to move forward in our goal to relocate, even though they could set in motion a cascade of events with which I will be unable to cope.

Day 2 of my 7-day streak (belated).

1. My first physical therapy session went pretty well.
2. Had a really good talk with my sister. It's good to know my family has my back, even in tough times.
3. Spent at least some of my insomnia time problem solving, not simply worrying.
