If you spend enough time in the "social media for public good" space, you'll realize there is a subset of people who essentially want to build what I call "Valhalla but for debate club members".

Their vision of a perfect social media experience is endless debate about big important ideas where people constantly get to show off how much more rational and civil they are than each other. The debate never ends. If you are obliterated in the public sphere you are reanimated. It's all in good fun.

It's the weekend again. I feel tired but relieved. I've been a bit absent from social media - just checking in here and there while taking a breather. Weekday evenings away from screens.

What's up? How are you doing?

I've built a whole bunch of great new sysop tools for my server over the past few weeks. I can't open source them for security reasons - I don't want potential attackers to know the detailed structure of my servers from the outside - especially since they contain security details. Still, I'm really excited about the progress I've made.

This is precisely the issue with #Bluesky. Nothing they say makes sense. There is no visible means of revenue generation. They operate purely on invested capital. Someday that bill will come due and there are only so many ways to monetize their business. None of them are palatable to their users.
