Dane in the scottish highlands learning Scots Gaelic since Monday. In amongst lots of trees. Self sufficient with wood. Have fruit trees and a poly tunnel but have a lot to learn. (he/him). Aspiring feminist with so much gender baggage still to unlearn.

On mastodon for the nature, trees and homesteading but also toot a little about IT and general stuff.

Trying my best to be as woke as possible. Torries and Brexit can get tae f*ck!

Passed by a house hereabouts in the Cornish fishing village of Mousehole which has a plaque that records it was once the home of one Dolly Pentreath.
Dolly passed away in 1777, and she is generally acknowledged as having been the last recorded speaker of the native Cornish language.
However, while the language almost died out in the 18th century, a revival movement followed and is enjoying something of a resurgence today.
Recognized as a 'living language', it is now taught in schools with a growing number of fluent speakers.

Still without power after the storm in Scotland this morning. Making coffee on the gas stove - might have to try cooking using our log burner later - it’s all very quiet.
1bar of 4g if I stand by the front window.

Australia’s iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge closes for pro-Palestine protest

Australia’s iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge has been closed for a major pro-Palestine march in the country’s largest city.

Protesters marched across the bridge on Sunday afternoon after the Supreme Court of New South Wales refused an application by police to prohibit the demonstration.

"It has been six years since the Gender Autonomy Act was passed in Iceland. In those six years, none of the usual fears that anti-trans advocates warn against have manifested - and trans people, non-binary people and intersex people have enjoyed increased rights and protections."

"The law allowed people to change name and legal gender marker by filling in a form with the national registry (no medical diagnosis required), non-binary people were legally recognised and can get ID accordingly, and health care for young people was enshrined in law."

Planet earth calling UK, are you there ...?

Oh BBC Radio 4 covering the situation with UK Water - but it's actually England's Water System they are talking about. Just to be clear, Scotland's Water is publicly owned. My tap water in Orkney is excellent, and yes perfectly clean for drinking.
