That says it right there:

"Nationally, North Carolina ranks among states with the highest police presence in schools but among the worst in overall school funding."

Please contact the Durham County Commissioners TODAY (Sunday) if possible as they will be discussing the Sheriff's proposed training facility at their work session Monday morning!

We need to protect our children's health, education, and opportunities. Spending more money on policing makes it harder to fund public health, affordable housing, better schools, HEART, and other investments in our future.

You can help stop the funding of $16 million to Durham's proposed cop city. The Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will be deciding on whether or not to move forward with a bond to pay for this. We are urging them to say no. Please show up in all the ways you can & bring a friend or 2:

I love that the city of #DurhamNC is rethinking the freeway that was built on top of what was once a thriving Black community. If you live here, please take this survey to learn more about what we can do and share your thoughts. bit.ly/ptc2024survey!

A map of the study area in downtown DurhamWhat is the Pathways to Connection Study?

The City of Durham Transportation Department is leading the Pathways to Connection study which will produce a community-led vision for the Durham Freeway Corridor (NC 147). The studyโ€™s purpose is to consider ways to mitigate the damage caused by the construction of the Durham Freeway to well-established Black communities in central Durham in the 1970s. The vision plan for the Durham Freeway will:

- Acknowledge and evaluate the impacts of the Freeway
- Reimagine the future character of the corridor
- Reconnect vital communities adjacent to the corridor

This handout includes information being shared in Phase Two of Public Engagement, including a โ€œplaybookโ€ of potential strategies available for discussion by the community. The strategies will be used to develop draft recommendations for the community to decide on to eventually select a Preferred Concept.

According to an email obtained by the Washington Post, a US Forest Service official sent out a message warning that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) โ€œhas advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediatelyโ€.

The message said that soldiers with the national guard โ€œhad come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying they were out hunting FEMAโ€.
