My thoughts on the Nakba

It was 2008 before I learned of the existence of Palestinian Christians in more than an abstract way. I had my PhD. I had been teaching for 10 years, and I had spent over 5 months in country in Israel over 4 different trips. I'm still embarrassed it took me that long. Yesterday was Israeli Independence Day. Today, Palestinians remember the same event as "Nakba" or "catastrophe." Seventy-seven years ago 750,000 people out of a population of 1.9 million were displaced. Entire villages of Christians, Muslims, and various other faiths were seized.
I won't pretend to be smart enough to know what a just solution is to conflict that has gone on for well over a century. But I know that hate is never right or God's will, that violence is an abdication of Christ's will for us, and that every human being bears the divine image and is worthy of life and dignity because of that.
I suppose all I want to say is. My heart breaks. My heart breaks for all Israelis. My heart breaks for all Palestinians. And in particular, my heart breaks for Palestinian Christians—those keepers of the faith still, for over 2000 years, part of my family of faith—as they fear more displacement and ongoing genocide.
It does not have to be this way. But it will be, until people of good conscious stand up and say, "No more, and never again."

Andor S2 is the best Star Wars content since Andor S1 which was the best Star Wars content since Rogue One. There must be some explanation for that.
