Vanilla-scented lip balm is cruel. It smells like a can of frosting. It makes me crave hitting some Betty Crocker with a big ol' tablespoon.

I don't know the exact time in one's life when one crosses from looking funky and awesome in a kimono/wrap thing and looking like one of the Golden Girls, but I seem to have passed it.

People worry a lot about losing knowledge — about "burned-down libraries".

Comparatively few people seem to worry about what happens if you take a billion books full of auto-generated, often-untrue junk text and *add* them all to the library.

In theory, nothing is lost. In reality, everything is lost, because nothing useful can now be found.

I've read 2 books that have ghost dogs in them (Darcy Little Badger's Elatsoe and TJ Klune's Under the Whispering Door) and at no point could I picture either dog as anything but Zero.

I am a big fan of the No Fuss Fundraiser at my kid's high school!

Your donation helps fund: senior scholarships, field trips, academic equipment, updated technology and so much more! And the best part- we won’t: try to sell you candles, giftwrap or popcorn, make you run or attend a gala!

No Fuss Fundraiser Options

$15 I do not want to buy any more candles, so here is the money I would have spent on them.

$25 I do not want to bother friends, family and co-workers, so here is the money I would have spent buying wrapping paper.

$50 I do not want to walk, swim or run in any activity that has the word “thon” in it.  Here is the money I would have spent on a “free” t-shirt.

$75 I do not want to attend any fancy balls or galas, so here is the money I would have spent on a new outfit.

AMOUNT OF YOUR CHOOSING- I am making this donation to express my appreciation for having nothing to buy or sell.

Thanks for your support!

Went to my 1st sporting event in 30+ years: High School Wrestling.

1) There's something about having a kid attack my offspring that made me experience a visceral desire to punch this random kid (who is really nice, by the way)
2) My back hurts from body English.

I guess this is kind of normal?

Use "DEVELOPMENTALLY RELEVANT" rather than "age appropriate" when discussing whether a book should be available to students.

Every student has different life experiences, matures at a different rate, has their own informational needs - none of these are bound by age.

A survey by Every Library and Book Riot shows most parents are actually fine with what librarians do, despite the attention that book banners have been getting.

This article by #KellyJenson also has her usual roundup of recent censorship news.

Hope you feel truly thankful for the good things in your life, no matter how small. Hope you can put some energy into giving others things to be thankful for. Hope that all have hope.

This has been online for a couple of days. I get the Sunday paper in print, and it was on the front page, above the fold!

Wonder if people will ask me about it on the desk today? #SundayLibrarian

I did it! I made banana muffins with the overripe bananas instead of forgetting until it was too late!

Procrastination doesn't pair well with bananas.

Offspring have devoured most of them.

ALSO, I want to talk to you about how Demco's shipping is outrageous. $26 for sheets of labels?
