@vasilis I can recommend Broad Band by Claire L. Evans.
The introduction of the book should be a good starter/input for your discussion. Unfortunately, I am not at home right now, otherwise I would have offered to scan the first pages.

typo meter — unmeasured typography
Automatic Type Design 3, @ANRT Nancy, 17–21 february 2025
We're looking forward to »typo meter« our workshop on February 17+18. We’ll investigate the thresholds between measured and unlocalised space in typography. What could unmeasured space be? What is geometry without measures? Could anchor points survive off-the-grid? Are pixels and vectors the right means to describe the abundance of letterforms?
Come join us!

Thanks for the offers! An adapter has been found! ☺️ #38c3
@Beowulf amazing – thanks a lot!
Is it ok if I hit you up tomorrow, to meet?
@silica exactly! That would be great.
Does anyone going to #38c3 have a spare HDMI (Type A) to microHDMI (Type D) cable or adapter that I could borrow? Ideally tomorrow.
Any hints welcome ☺️
The Libre Graphics Meeting 2025 is scheduled to take place in Nuremberg, Germany, from May 28 to May 31. The Call for Participation is published at https://libregraphicsmeeting.org/2025/call-for-participation/
Please read, share, and consider submitting a proposal!
This is something I am really grateful for but seldom take the time to appreciate enough: riding on the train, needing no passport, being able to meet all those wonderful people, their perspectives and world views – it’s really these connections that we need!
If you can, please go and share knowledge you have, talk to people, do it for free if you can.
Use those Erasmus or other exchange programmes and/or encourage your students to do the same! It’s such a privilege!
Returning from a weekend full of impressions:
Conducting a type design workshop at LUCA School of Art in Gent, meeting and co-teaching with many other teachers from all over Europe. What an experience!
Also had the chance to see the results of the workshop »A Cane, Sticky notes, Another Body: Interface Space« run by @constant
It was a great afternoon with Bingos, (tactile) buttons, tactile maps, performances, analog photos, and more!

@drawBot from adaptable width approaches to bustrophedon typesetting much was presented!
Cheers to the students for all your ideas!
the students used @drawBot to draw letters and then imagine what would happen on the next level: text boxes, lines, words, …
TYPOGRAPHY THEORY PRACTICE, Leeds Beckett University, Saturday 19 October 2024.
A one-day conference organised by Fraser Muggeridge exploring how typographic theories and propositions can manifest in practice, can be used to explain practice, and become practice. The full schedule is online at https://typographytheorypractice.xyz
We’ll talk about »opaque tools«, question what software monopolisation means in our design practice and for the visual world, where we got stuck, and ways to escape.
