The makers of the DIY motherboard could have made the width between the battery holes on the outside a few mm narrower and I would not mind. PITA getting it off and on. It looks like single-layer, so the nicks it got on some ground and positive pads shouldn't flame on. Still, guys, it's a very tight fit. It took close to 10 minutes to get it lined up to reattach with all of the batteries in place. It must have taken 20 minutes to get it off as nicely as I know how.

It has always been my intent to not crack motherboards in two and throw them out the window, but at times, my spirit has been tried, and nearly found wanting.

I'm taking 5. All of the batteries and their spacers are in place, as is the motherboard. Next up, much bolting and many screws.

After that - did I destroy the electronics taking it apart? This is an adventure, like a holiday in a station wagon with Chevy Chase.

„Anhang N“ ist inzwischen so ein geflügelter Begriff geworden, der mancher und manchem bekannt ist, der oder die nicht den AD&D Dungeon Master’s Guide von 1979 gelesen hat. In diesem Anhang N mit der Überschrift „Inspirational and Educational Reading“ gab Gary Gygax den Lesenden eine Liste mit Autoren und Autorinnen sowie deren Bücher und Buchreihen mit, die er als Lektüre zur Inspiration empfahl. Diese Werke, so darf man annehmen, standen bei der Entwicklung von D&D Pate.

Wir fanden die Idee toll, so etwas für uns auch einmal zu machen. Zum einen lernt man dabei ein bisschen was über die eigenen Inspirationen, zum anderen kann man dann ganz viele coole Anregungen von anderen mitnehmen. Also werden wir im Februar eine kleine Blogreihe herausgeben, in der Autor:innen des Kritischen Fehlschlags ihren persönlichen „Anhang KF“ präsentieren: mit den Werken, die sie inspirieren und zum Rollenspielen und Spielleiten anregen und motivieren.

Wir wollen uns dabei nicht nur auf Bücher beschränken, sondern sind für alle Medien offen, inklusive Filme, Musik, Computerspiele usw. – bloß keine Rollenspielwerke im engeren Sinne. Es soll dabei weniger darum gehen, warum ein bestimmtes Werk lesens-, sehens- oder hörenswert ist (das setzen wir voraus!), sondern was sie in uns zum Klingen bringen, wie sie uns anregen und warum wir gerne zu ihnen zurückkehren.

Today I found out that measuring and cutting straight are very important when woodworking. I had to adjust the skirts for my #DIY boardgame table and now the spaces I reserved for the legs are 6,5 cm by 7 cm instead of 7 cm by 7 cm. Luckily this is the same for all legs...

Todays's #DIY #repair is to change the lithium batteries on a pair of Bluetooth game controllers. Not very easy to find an exact replacement, but I managed to source a close enough size and voltage.
