Mastodon on Firefox on MacOS is displaying all fonts as bold right now, no matter which server I look at. This is so weird. No other sites on Firefox do this, and no other browsers do this.

My violin’s pegbox has started to misbehave the night before my concert, for the first time in 20+ years. Normally the pegs hold perfectly. But now the A and D strings keep slipping. I guess I need to hit up a music store on my way to the show for some peg dope (who the hell named it that, anyway?).

I might have been exposed to covid at orchestra rehearsal Saturday. It happens to occur whenever I don’t wear a mask. I haven’t tested myself yet, but I’m fine other than my usual allergies.

I had a nightmare about work last night. A stressful interpersonal conflict (that isn’t real; it was about someone I barely interact with), and stopping myself from sending a “career-killing email” in response. I dream about work sometimes, but I haven’t had any nightmares in a LONG time.

So, I need a new car. I’m not sure how quickly I should move on it, though, vs. renting a car for a month and taking my time. (I rented one today for 2 weeks.)

New Car Time has arrived, sadly. The undercarriage scraped an uneven parking lot entrance curb, and now it's making a loud and unnerving thumping noise. :(

walgreens.com has a callout for Rite Aid customers, and michaels.com has a callout for JoAnn customers. The latter feels less sleazy than the former, probably because JoAnn served a unique niche. But all the big pharmacies are icky. (Even if I do get toiletries at Walgreens now, in lieu of Target.)

One person pointed out (to applause) that if it’s a copilot, there has to be a pilot.

And a director hinted at the huge unseen cost of unnecessary ChatGPT prompts (e.g., that it replying “you’re welcome” if you type “thank you” uses 50ml of water to cool the servers…now multiply that by millions).

And that was SUCH a relief.

At quarterly planning today, the use of Copilot to help with generating code came up. Someone asked if that’ll make our devs redundant bc “AI is much smarter than we are.” And the pushback was immediate. All the mgrs+tech leads asserted that it’s an assistant that just works with what you give it.
