@Wuzzy Ooh, new levels, looking forward to it! :blobcheerbounce:

I found another little bug, in Beach Fortress: it's possible to pul the switch in the top floor cage, if you stand on the wall in just the right place. It's probably enough to place an extra block on top of the light to obstruct the 'line-of-touch' (line-of-sight for manipulation).

Is it okay to give feedback here, or do you prefer a :codeberg: issue?

Dear Fedi friends, may I ask you a favor?

I would really appreciate it if you could boost this message. I have created a French version of my Fedi promo video - and a French landing page – that I hope can spread far and wide in the Francophone world:

news.elenarossini.com/fedivers

Cette vidéo explique ce qu'est le fédivers en 4 minutes. N'hésitez pas à partager cette page avec vos amis et vos proches qui ne sont pas ici... J'espère que cette vidéo éveillera leur curiosité 💙🤍❤️

Sigh. I'm still so bothered by that "chatgpt rots your brain" paper BECAUSE it correctly positions some of the compelling questions we have about LLM usage but then does us all a disservice in its approach, pushy interpretation, and inappropriate or misleading framing of brain evidence and measurement of human problem-solving, imo

I am asking myself: what studies would *I* design to evaluate people's usage of LLMs in keeping with learning science and without neurohype?

A perfectly captured moment by photographer @chitoto_photo makes it look like a giant Buddha statue is gently pinching the moon between its fingers 🤌🌕

My takeaway: Satellite launches are undoing the recovery of the ozone layer that should be happening now that CFCs are banned. And this study doesn't even take into account metal deposition from reentries, which might be even worse!

When I teach climate change in my astro classes, I always give the recovery of the ozone layer as an example of how countries can work together to fix a giant problem (Montreal Protocol). I guess satellite companies are now destroying that too.

@Wuzzy I think I found a small bug in Explode Everything: the blue laser is already active when first uncovered.

Congratulations on this release! I'm having a lot of fun with it, much more than I anticipated. Clever puzzles, obvious attention to detail. Well done!

@Wuzzy I just finished Ocean Eye, it's beautiful. Had me scratching my head for a while, but then I found The Trick. Is that a hard level?

"Bummer", heh. Excellent shitpost,
@yvanspijk

Um, yeah.

@cwebber That checks with your favourite (AFAICT) single-letter programming language.

Do you also wear E-shirts now? Sounds challenging, or at least not straight-forward.

@drachenmagier I didn't know I needed a colourful stegosaurus, but it's most welcome. Thanks!

@sbb Heh, yes, that's true. Hopefully there's a big scandal with that company soon again, and when they rebrand we can reclaim the word "meta".

"Super" is better. That's also used in #emacs --which confusingly calls the alt-key "Meta"... I've also heard "Logo", which would work for eg. mntre.com/

2025-05-14

@sbb If there's something in KDE not to your liking, there's bound to be a configuration option for it. 🙂 Indeed, if it's the (default I think) "Application Launcher" you're using, you can select "session" under "show buttons for:" .

It's confusing indeed, but I agree with KDE not to advertise for a non-free OS in their keybindings. Imagine the audacity, in times when laptops have ever fewer buttons and leds, that MS now dictates a second key with the image and function of their products! 🤢

The low orbit of the space station creates a strong parallax effect. After stacking multiple 📷 (thanks @huubeggen,
@edde.bsky.social, @kaigreet.bsky.social) of the same pass, measuring the angular separation and using the observers' latitude, a height of 428km was calculated (+/- 20 km, due to some simplifications and measurement accuracy). Matches nicely with the actual altitude of 418km!

Photo of the evening sky on May 13 2025, taken from Ghent (Belgium) at 23:53 local time. In the middle is the Big Dipper. For three other locations (Alkmaar, NL), Utrecht (NL) and Cornwall (UK), the photographs showing the bright ISS "lines" (for the same pass, due to a long camera shutter time) were added as overlay. A bottom inset shows the geometry of the parallax effect, a second inset shows the ISS ground track, taken from https://www.heavens-above.com/orbit.aspx?satid=25544. The ISS passes in the zenith, from west to east, making the calculations easier.

Van één stukje monk's cloth naar vier afgewerkte stukken :)

(mss moet ik die linksboven es strijken)

Four finished cross stitch pieces, three of them framed in photo frames behind glass and one of them framed in a fake wooden octagonal hoop-frame.

One is a flaming heart with borders, colours used: red, black, white, bright pink, dark pink.
One is a fox with the text "no fox given", colours used are orange, white and black.

One is a windows xp style error box saying "warning, it can always get more borked" with a caution sigh next to the text and an "okay" button under the text.

The one in the special frame says "live laugh lobotomy" with a skull and mirrored flowers at the bottom.
