One habit I’ve been working on that has served me well is saying “thank you” instead of “I’m sorry”:

“Thank you for helping me” instead of “sorry for the inconvenience.”

“Thank you for your patience” instead of “sorry I’m always late.”

“Thank you for dinner” instead of “I’m sorry I don’t know how to cook.”

It empowers the listener as having agency in the interaction, instead of being a victim of my shortcomings.
