@bookstack Congrats! ð
I am a tech enthusiast since I was young. Since years I am running some kind of homelab and I am selfhosting different services at home.
Now I want to share some of my experiences so you do not have to make the same mistakes I made. :)
Remember though this is not best (all) practice but best effort combined with some sarcasm and humour. ;)

@bookstack Congrats! ð
This weekend I restructered some cabling and rearranged a few device on some shelves.
A new Ubiquiti Flex 2.5G is now used as a 10 gbps uplink to a Mikrotik CSS-326 switch.
Mikrotik and Ubiquiti network equipment are a great combination ð imho to use together in a homelab.
Like always in a homelab this is work in progress. ðĪŠ
Networkwide HAProxy. On per host base when needed Caddy.
I am awaiting the arrival of my second Minisforum MS-01 (i5). ðĪŠ
This should replace a Proxmox VE node (i3 Intel NUC). I hope I am able to use the NUC as a Proxmox Backup Server.
I replaced them with th Nocua fans and I am using the low noise adapter cables.
Much better!
I am using Ubiquiti Unifi access points. They work fine together with the MikroTik POE switch.
Ubiquiti routers have become much better the last couple of years.
From the top down:
CSS326-24G-2S+ (SwitchOS)
CRS310-8G+2S+ (RouterOS)
CSS610-8P-2S+ (SwitchOS Lite)
They are all used for switching.
I use a HUNSN mini PC as a (pfSense) router.
(Keep in mind that the CRS310-8G+2S+ has fans.)
An excellent, clean, fast and informative site by @danb on transparency of the #FOSS world.
@ghost is definitely one of many out there including @bookstack so contribute to the https://isitreallyfoss.com and "... celebrate FOSS-positive projects..."
@dbtechyt I will spin up a Podman host this weekend to see If it's as good as Docker. ðģ

How to update your Portainer docker container to the latest version?
Check out the link:

Kagi looks nice.
Can it be selfhosted? Could not find that after a quick scan of their website.

Here I am deploying the Portainer Community Edition (CE) on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS.
You can consider Portainer as a graphical user interface (GUI) for mananging your Docker Containers. But it can do a lot more. The Community Edition is free to use so why not give it a try?. ð
Containers are really a great technology to try out for yourself. Once you understand the basics you can deploy new services or applications in minutes.

Here I am installing the Docker engine on a Ubuntu server.
Deploying services or applications as a Docker container can become addictive but also a lot fun!
