theaaronstory

Long time solo dev working on a psychological horror title.

Check out Deep Sea Claustrophobia here: theaaronstory.itch.io/deep-sea

At some point running into electricity will hurt. The meantime we've got this. And a neat way of supercharging the batteries, or melt down the engine fast. Whichever way you choose. Probably both.

New build update, with the optional extra of having a comparable Demo Snapshot released, which allows you to try out the game for Free! More in the devlog. Do share and let others get a taste of the depths!

"Houston, we've had a problem here,"

Now there's water dripping from the ceiling and the lights can go out as well!

New build update:

After releasing the new trailer, the build was also updated to better mach what's been seen there. See changelog for more.

The landing page for the game was lacking a proper trailer from day one, so I spent some time fixing that. Hoping that this video better conveys the massage of DSC. Enjoy!

A tiny addition to the raster to make the ship move and function. Still not complete, but thought to share it at this stage!

In other news, probably there won't be a Steam release as publishers couldn't bother themselves, which is disappointing. Thus a soft launch on Itch.io as an Early Access titles might be a thing next week. Even thought it's like 2 months away from completion (give or take). Sigh!

Not enough text! Whilst working on the engine (getting to move the submarine at some point), smaller bits are also being added to the mix like extra sounds and walls of text to read (as a form of tutorial). More to come!

@yora Almost. It's inspired by Aliens.

In a rather odd fashion, went on and made this update live this early (with some bug fixes sprinkled on). It's just a tiny update showcasing what skills could look like. It was just an excuse to have some fun really! See video below for more:

Something from the mines: Just before work could start on the next update, the decision was made to ice everything, and start adding something cooler (see GIF below). More can be read under the community posts if interested; see itch.io/board/3509484/changelo for more.

And here's the devlog accompanying the latest video:

Bit shorter, definitely not 23 minute long to read, and geared more towards devs.

"Why being a video game designer can be fun, but not a walk in the park"

Just released the next devlog for the project, to mark the release of version 5. A long talk about design, and how problem solving shapes the outcome of your work. Lots of mention of future possibilities as well, because a lot was cut for this update! See you in the next one.

Alright, so as a sneak peek, version 5 for Falterstone is now live on theaaronstory.itch.io/falterst website. Which means that another devlog should be on its way sometime soon. This episode will be more action oriented as it will include more tangible things like minecarts and flying rocks (on top of that explorative "jungle").

If interested, you can read a bit more about the in-betweens on the community page at theaaronstory.itch.io/falterst

Another quick blog about the last two weeks of getting this update done. Focused on production, and other aspects of making things happen.

In order to make exploring a little more rewarding, 2 new structures were added to the mix: Underground Waterfalls and Ghosts (of past dwarfs). You can find these scattered around the map, to give you something to look forward to and not just an endless wave of stone; as waterfalls have a chance to give regen, and bosses drop loot.

Wrote a quick separate blog post about this update, more catered towards devs. Check out the link below:

A lot has happened since last time, as work has been pressed hard to give the prototype some new flavor and a touch of extra polish. To name a few: there are now pixies flying everywhere, water can gush out from the stones, you can use magic runes to protect you from the water, and you can use a map to not get lost. Plus a ton behind-the-scenes and fixes, etc. But take a look at the video to find out what's what!
