@theghostoftomjoad Also note that crowd was easily big enough though probably not aggressive enough to forcibly stop this arrest and drive back the cops.
Back on July 24 2024, I was in that furious battle at Union Station when cops again from the US Park Police initially attempted to start arresting people out of the crowd. Fearing mass arrests, the crowd counterattacked and chased the cops out of Union Station and across the street towards the Capitol.
We then returned to the plaza where some of our folks pulled down the US flags out front (some of which were burned) and ran Palestinian flags up the same poles. Events also featured Netanyahu (speaking to Congress that day) being burned in effigy.
The cops only managed to take a very few hostages in the initial attack, and to pick off a few more later. They admitted over their radios we had them outmatched-and had had them outmatched all day. Fact is, the US Park Police are known for mindless brutality but are not really a competant fighting force. I've seen them get their ass kicked and the above was one of the times.
I once had a cop attempt to force me to delete photos of himself from my camera. Refusing to comply I stirred up the crowds against him and he and his buddies threw in the towel. That was against MPD in DC.
