Applying the epoxy to the M2 of #MONETN was quite fiddly work. Three tiny spots will hold the mirror in its place.

We visited the 82" telescope at McDonald Observatory yesterday. Nice old telescope, and still in use!

The #MONETN secondary mirror is getting ready to be reglued to its mount.

Taking down the secondary mirror of #MONETN was a team effort! #unigoettingen

Tomorrow we will remove the secondary mirror of #MONETN in order to fix its mount. For doing that we just installed a jig that allows us to secure it with a pulley. Still a critical operation, dropping the mirror would be a total showstopper for MONET. #UNIGÖTTINGEN

@tuparev It's 25cm. We're not totally sure about the manufacturer, since there are no markings on the scope and it's probably 20 years old. I think it might be from TS Optics.

First light of #MONTI postponed by a week. Had everything working just to find out that this extension tube is f**king ~5mm too long to get stars into focus. Will try to fix this in Cape Town. #monet #UniGöttingen
