Follow-up question for #blind people who play text-based interactive fiction (a.k.a. text adventures): Which IF interpreters work best with Windows screen readers, particularly JAWS? Lectrote (github.com/erkyrath/lectrote) wasn't bad the last time I tried it with NVDA, though you have to be a somewhat advanced user to find the right download (on the GItHub releases page) and unzip it. Wondering if there are better options.

First up: The /.well-known/fursona schema, that can be found at its github repo (if you've seen this before and have a local copy, new username on github so please update your remote urls!)

This schema defines a way of structuring data about fursonas so that it can be machine read from a specific location, and can even be parsed with a tool such as
@arch 's fursona viewer tool!

Also, the iceshrimp nix module:

By the way: I generally don't publish the hateful comments, emails, etc. I receive.

I decided that the small amount of joy I can extract from dunking on their vitriol isn't worth the cost of exposing people to it.

People hate me.

They hate me because I'm gay.

They hate me because I'm a furry.

They hate me because I'm a computer nerd.

They hate me because I write technical blog posts with my fursona on it.

They hate me because I don't rubberstamp their favorite messaging technology (PGP, OMEMO, Matrix, etc.).

They hate me for no reason, or every reason, for the lulz.

None of it is worth talking about. None if it is worth sharing.

I could have a hate mail section funnier than The Best Page In The Universe if I wanted, but it would be hollow, and it's better to starve them of the attention they crave.

If anyone ever receives similar, just know that you're not alone, and the community is here for you.

Hey folks. Does anyone have tips for cleaning out a computer? Not the files, but the tower itself. Making sure there's no dust in there or anything. What works and is safe?

@cafkafk @miko I've even had bigots call me a woke leftist and various slurs (usually after banning them)!! Where's my hit piece? /sarcasm

2024-11-09

@miko @cafkafk I'm a moderator of a NixOS chat room (the Discord) and somehow he hasn't made a hit piece on me yet

I think I'm just lucky

So apparently all over American high schools boys could be heard saying “Your body, my choice” today. The only people that can stop this is other men. Step the fuck up. Now’s the time to prove that it really is not all men

Q for those who might be familiar: any opinions on mas.to as an instance? Saw the admin offering it as a home for quieter bots, which seems like it fits my one-post-a-day bot. Considering migrating @compactdiscinteractive there, but not very familiar with that instance otherwise.

except I didn't actually manage to do so :neofox_shocked:...

so, the problem is that our Nix configuration is public, so I didn't want to hardcode our location, so I configured geoclue2 to fetch location from Mozilla Location Service

the problem with that however is that this service was discontinued like a few months ago

hm, how do I configure this without actually doxxing ourselves... this is a tricky problem with Nix, haha
