The NOICEst backer number is up for grabs!! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thirdbearpress/sycamore/rewards
All I'm saying is, all the hottest people are backing @withryn's kickstarter. Hot people love panel layouts that make you think your way through what's being felt on the page, who knew?

"When I lived in Scotland folks would ask me what I missed about living in America. My family and friends, and the Sycamore trees, was my answer."

If you've not backed @withryn's latest comic book collection yet, I fully recommend it. As brother bobsy once said, "Briggs draws like Alan Moore writes."

Tomorrow! Book launch! Philly!!
This page from my adaptation of Macbeth isn't a specific scene, it's a marker to indicate the start of Act IV, but it's one of my fav pieces. It foreshadows the extended bird metaphor that'll happen in scenes 2 and 3 and references The Tower tarot card. #macbeth #shakespeare #shakespeareadaptation
This page of my Macbeth adaptation is brief respite from the medieval art references; instead it's a William Blake reference. He always creates excellent Terrible King imagery. The art itself is drawn on top of a Victorian analysis of Lady Macbeth - How many thousands of words have been written about her over the centuries?? About who she is and what she wanted?? I'm just part of a long line of people fascinated by her.
My comic adaptation of Macbeth has a starred review on Publishers Weekly! https://www.publishersweekly.com/9781910395738 #macbeth #shakespeare #shakespeareadaptation

This page from my adaptation of Macbeth, with spectral daggers leading Macbeth towards Duncan's room and the gutters turning into a Momento Mori maw, was one of my favorite ones to paint. And I wanted to show how the image of the Devil has changed - to the medieval mind Satan was blue, with chicken feet #shakespeare #macbeth #comics #comicart
@trammel big round of applause for libraries, amirite???
@trammel ah thank you! I think I’ve seen some promo for his deck, but this is great. I also have a tarot deck 😂 it came out 2 years ago - The New Chapter Tarot - I thought, for the very briefest moment I had gotten drawing tarot cards out my system, but I was wrong lol https://liminal11.com/product/the-new-chapter-tarot/
Continuing with My Fav Macbeth Pages - Donalbain & Malcom have just learned their father King Duncan has been murdered. They resign themselves to exile (Ireland & England) as their safest option. I wanted to reference this painting by Millais of another pair of princes in danger - Donalbain & Malcom are peeking thru the silhouette of The Princes in the Tower.
My full text adaptation is out July 25th from Avery Hill https://averyhillpublishing.bigcartel.com/product/macbeth-by-k-briggs #sheakespeare #macbeth #millais #comicart
@trammel Thank you! And thank you for reminding me to post a link https://averyhillpublishing.bigcartel.com/product/macbeth-by-k-briggs
I snuck a lot of tarot into Macbeth. A lot, a lot. And kept a chart of which character was represented by what card. Wherever possible I used #Gaelic instead of English for the tarot cards, the language Macbeth would have spoken. #shakespeare #comicart #tarot
Since #macbeth is out in less than a month, I’ll be posting some of my fav pages and why. To start, this one has a lot of things I just like drawing - skulls, corvids, snakes, bones, and my self portrait lol. But this moment, Lady Macbeth trying to peel her assigned gender off her body, was something I deeply resonated with #shakespeare #comicart
✨It’s a Macbeth book launch!✨ I’m so excited to have my adaptation out in the world next month. Join me in Philly for chat and signing
