I currently have one Fibonacci512 PixelBlaze available for sale, DM me if interested. With everything going on, this may be the last one I have available for quite some time.
Please note this one uses WS2812 LEDs, not SK9822. It's still gorgeous (if I do say so myself). 😁
Fully assembled, includes the brilliant #PixelBlaze and Sensor Expander by @wizard for sound-reactivity, live-coding patterns via web UI over wi-fi, etc.

Sneak peek at Pixelblaze Buddy Boards! These interface with an @wizard Pico and provide direct soldering for pebble strands, and support any strip via a connector or wires. Convenient USB-C breakout for power. A 4-pin pebble strand with backup data is wired directly to it, then a 3-pin tape strip with a connector is shown going to a different Buddy board.

Here’s a short masto-friendly vid that shows the Tentacle Buddies in action with a Pixelblaze Pico. You can see the wiring order in the animation, which is just a slowed KITT with rainbow instead of red.

Lately I’ve been working with #Pixelblaze Picos and pebble LEDs strands of various types, and I made some helper boards to make wiring them up easier! Here’s a video about it, explaining how to use them to create a continuous LED chain with tentacles that drop down. I think these would be great for #cosplay and making a skirt. I’ve been working on these in collaboration with @wizard so they’ll be coming soon to the Alpenglow website and prob the Electromage site too! youtu.be/ITolLfaTvGk?feature=s

Finished this art piece for my office!

The base for this piece is a cork board. I painted the frame, covered the cork in fabric, added a string of WS2812 LEDs controlled by a Pixelblaze V3 Standard LED controller, and then finished it up with some mirrors and flowers.

This art took 23 calendar days to finish, but only 7 of those are days where I actually made progress on this project. The other 16 days were focused on other events and projects in my life.

The materials cost:
$39 USD for Pixelblaze
$35 USD for the LEDs
$20 CAD for the fabric
$10 CAD for the mirrors
$ 6 CAD for the fake flowers
$15 CAD paint
$ 5 staples
+ cost of tools and miscellaneous supplies

If you order a Lux Lavalier Heart pendant now I can't promise it'll arrive by Valentine's Day, but I will upgrade it to priority shipping & try my best.

Super stoked to finally be able to share this! It’s an LED #crochet hat that I made for the maker gift exchange this year! This came out so freakin well that I’m making more and am developing a plug-and-play system/kit so that yarnies without electronics experience will be able to easily add LEDs to their projects. 🧵

Finally finished this project that had been backburnered for a while - a sign for our friends at Two Broads Ciderworks! In celebration of National Fuck with Pixelblazes Week, this is indeed powered by @wizard Pixelblaze.

It’s made from fiberboard with a cherry veneer, glitter acrylic, and addressable LEDs.

Went to a Halloween party last night, so I pulled out my LED plushies, and made a boat from a cardboard box. I was "Disco Jacques Cousteau"

I've completed the laser-cut acrylic enclosure, based on L3D's original design. This version includes a place to mount a #PixelBlaze & Sensor board by @wizard inside. The Sensor board has an IMU & mic so it can respond to movement & sound. Here it is responding to Restraint by Tycho, with a brilliant pattern written by @benhencke.
I hope to have parts for more available early next week.

Hey hey, who’s headed to Maker Faire Bay Area next weekend, Oct 19 & 20? A whole bunch of us are and we’ve created a little Electronics Wonderland for all of your soldering kit, handy tool, make stuff with LEDs, wear LEDs, and automate your off-grid living space needs! There’s so much to tell you that I have to start a 🧵.

I like work better these days then I have in a long time 💖

Today I'm assembling these, which I'm sure quite a few of you would really love:

Fun fact, this project is a collaboration between three hardware creators I know ( @wizard @GeekMomProjects, @jasoncoon ) , a really rare example of collaboration that generated something far greater than each input alone, that has non-dramatically sustained itself for quite a while. Impressive. An honor to work on.

(1) Hung with the simultaneously understated and hysterical @wizard who may have finally convinced me to learn KiCad and saw his stunningly appointed (by the very talented @LaserMistress ) installation
(2) Attended @alpenglow's informative talk on using 3D printing for manufacturing. She's a talented presenter who makes detailed discussion of tolerances remarkably interesting, and cleverly histogrammed the results using the 3D printed parts themselves as the data points

This is the final jacket for the "Light Wash Denim" installation at . Patterns generated by @wizard 's awesome controller, and I used @jasoncoon 's very helpful pixel mapping program to extract the LED positions from a photo of the wiring. I'm getting super excited for Teardown now!

In a few weeks I'll be at #Teardown hosted by @crowdsupply, and I'll head straight from there to #Toorcamp for a solid 2 weeks of hardware hacking and socialization.

I will not be hosting a quiet room with lockpicking or anything like that at Teardown this year, but I *will* be running a table for @wizard showing off the Pixelblaze LED hardware, and I *will* be flooding the Toorcamp Night Market with my own lasercut briberies 😎

Who will I see?

2024-06-11

@jasoncoon nope, gotta wait till Teardown!
