While I've approved the Fedi LIKEs in my site's Comments dashboard, they in fact do not appear on my blog post. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

This morning I woke up to 3 emails from @wordpressdotcom saying I had 3 LIKEs waiting for approval on my recent knitting post. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

Because of reasons, being able to approve LIKEs has been one of the longest standing requests of site owners. But it wasn't exactly that.

My knitting site is and those LIKEs were people who had faved my post here on Mastodon.

So, devs, can it be done for LIKES onsite?

@zeldman What kind of cake? ๐Ÿ˜†

Every once in a while I get a hankering to reminisce and look at my old site on IA. It used *hangs head in shame* an image map for the navigation. All the hand-coded HTML posts still load fine though. It's a hoot!

Lise Meitner: The Forgotten Mother of Nuclear Fission

Of the 15 elements on the periodic table that honor scientists, only one and a half are named after women.

Science is the story of discoveries but sometimes credit isnโ€™t given when it is due. How many women discoverers can you name?

Lise Meitner (1946)

Smithsonian Institution - Flickr: Lise Meitner (1878-1968), lecturing at Catholic University, Washington, D.C., 1946.

Lise Meitner is seen in the midst of delivering a lecture. Her posture appears engaged and deliberateโ€”she may be gesturing, holding notes, or pointing toward unseen lecture materials. She is dressed in period-appropriate attire, likely a blouse and dark jacket, conveying a professional and composed appearance.

In 1938, Austrian-born physicist Lise Meitner (1878-1968) fled Germany and eventually became a Swedish citizen. After World War II, Meitner received many awards, including being named "Woman of the Year" at the National Press Club in 1946. She was a Visiting Professor of Physics at Catholic University during Spring 1946. In a press release associated with her arrival, Dr. Meitner emphasized that her goal was "wholly educational": "I have no intention to suggest how atomic energy should be controlled, beyond expressing my sincere hope that no occasion will again arise where it will be utilized in war. A lasting peace is more desirable than the creation of weapons which might lead to the extermination of mankind."

Built with WordPress, the default Twenty Twenty-Five theme, the block editor and a few extra plugins/tools such as Twentig, Kadence Advanced Gallery Block and the Icon Block.

Also my first time using SureRank instead of Yoast for the SEO side of things. I'm sold. So clean and modern.

This week I completed a 4-week workshop covering various techniques. It was the most fun I've had in ages and I learned a lot. Great group of learners, too.

And once again I have a sweater I can wear during our winter hikes.

Now, on to darning my wool socks!
