I hate fireworks because I was sent to a pointless war. I totally get those old man vibes

I wish people would stop lighting off fireworks. It always makes my pulse spike. And sends me back there...

I have my wallet on my pixel watch for this reason. And a tablet for the mobile bank apps and what not. Just been fighting some depression episodes and have an ever growing to-do list.

Thanks. I'm going to check it out after I get Gentoo running on my laptop and desktop. The initial install doesn't take too long. It's the setting it up and customizing it that takes the majority of time. Or troubleshooting why wayland/xorg doesn't work. I'm not looking forward to that

My beautiful Tuxedo laptop running the live Gentoo iso. One terminal open and one window (Firefox) open with the Gentoo handbook for easy copy paste/following appropriate steps/commands.

I'm still so hesitant about changing the OS on my phone.

❓ Did you ever wonder how to install the beautiful #font featured beneath the @gentoo logo?

Good news!

📦 Starting today, there's a shiny new package in the tree: :gentoo: dev-tex/gentoo-newage

⚡ Just in time to prepare a nice flyer for the #FrOSCon 2025 in #LaTeX

A picture of the Gentoo logo with the letters gentoo in dark purple letters. The letters use a special font with the iconic rectangle shape of the newage font.

I have the day off today, like most Americans. I am debating on installing Gentoo on my laptop. I want to get my desktop fully up and running with at least one flavor of Linux. The thing preventing me from getting my desktop fully working with NixOS is just reviewing my flake and getting both my laptop and desktop config's updated. Plus getting my Home volume group mounted at ~/

I feel like I will just be doing a massive review of the flake and relearning Nix. Whereas, I could just slap Gentoo on my laptop's secondary drive, get it up and running... Then try to tackle it on my desktop. I'm very timid about doing that though. Because my FW13 decided to "commit sudoku" (if you will) and ruin every fan I try to use to cool the CPU. I have a greater confidence in Tuxedo and their customer support over Framework. Yes, I could stick to primarily binaries for Gentoo. But, it's not what I know. The main thing that is preventing me from using Mint/Debian is the lack of software. I want ghostty, qtile and a few other programs that aren't in the repo's. There is a community repo for ghostty for Ubuntu and its flavors/derivatives. I'd prefer to just have it in the main repo. I am considering Arch as well. But in my experience, Arch and its flavors haven't been stable for me. I know others like @sotolf have had it be stable for them. And I love that for them. For me, "YMMV" has been so ever true. The instability and slow download speeds are what's keeping me from keeping it as a front runner.

I can't believe we're still having to say this in 2025, but would people *please* scroll back to the top of a website when they're finished reading, so it's ready for the next person. We've even got buttons at the bottom to do it all in one go, it's not 1994 any more.

What's the fucking point anymore? Set back, then another set back. Then DJ Khalid for a bit... Another one. When your small victories start to boil down to, taking a shower... Fucking yikes

And I'm reaffirmed in the belief that I used to see my relationships through a bad lens. That they are now heavily one sided. It's a painful pill to swallow yet again.

I paused the app. And my battery life was coming back a little. Then i saw the son of a bitch still ping. So I took the permission away in tandem off disabling the app. I can use my phone again, it seems. And not be glued to the wall charger.

In case I lose one I guess? It's actually the most accurate GPS I've seen. Down to a foot or two in precision/accuracy

2025-06-26

After getting hearing aids I've seen my phone battery just drain and drain. I have audio streaming to them. But it should be similar to any headphones. Except these... Constantly ping GPS...

Then the rebuttal comes, "well, it's open source. You can always add to the documentation..." What tools

On a positive note, I did clean my laptop. I am just an oily/sweaty guy. I do my best to stay clean but when sweat beads are forming on individual keys...
