@hiscursedness @55aw

This concept can be called: "Ear of the bonkholder".

2025-01-07

@hiscursedness @55aw

All music is, spritually speaking, bonk adjacent, the bonkness being imparted primarily by the listener. Said listener does not need to be aware of the existence of bonkwave, in fact some bonkologists maintain that true bonkwave can only be experienced by those who have never heard of it.

@damaru @freebliss

PS @ freebliss, I am updating my own faircamp & the new features are fantastic & site is looking v nice. Cheers!🖖

2025-01-06

@damaru @freebliss

Also, a small change to perma-link & guid generation in newer faircamp versions means that currently, when someone updates from older faircamps, all their releases get pushed to the top. This will only happen when someone upgrades from an old version (like maybe version 0.19 ?) to a new one. It won't happen when they upgrade again later.

@damaru

You can see the aggregator in action here:

ten-thousand-sounds.com/

That site is opt-in, so doesn't include all known faircamp sites.

Some caveats: it hasn't been updated in a while & requires some files from an old version of faircamp to render correctly. The add-on version to add to your own faircamp won't work properly with newer faircamp versions.

@kel

Yeah it was a bit freaky, I'm well away now though thankfully. 🖖

Maybe it's some new fad or something

I have just seen a family with a dog, but it was one of those robot dogs, boston dynamics style... but they had stuck a plastic Gromit head on it.

I am walking away from them now, I just hope I can walk faster than robo gromit.

That was not something I expected to see this Christmas eve

@OutofPrintArchive

Also remember when I bought it, all the staff in that branch of Game (all two of them), simultaneously called out "Shenmuuuuee"! together in a sort of long drawn out manner, emphasising the 'moo' part. I guess they did that every time someone bought it. But it does mean I distinctly remember buying it.

2024-12-24

@OutofPrintArchive

Oh man I do remember playing Shenmue at Christmas way back, it must have been when it came out.

And I got completely stuck because one character had some info but I said I didn't want to hear it because they seemed really sketchy. But it turned out to be crucially important, and afterwards I couldn't get the dialogue option to ask again. So I was completely stuck.

Loved that game though it was like nothing else at the time and Shenmue 2 was even better.

@MOULE @n3wjack

BonkWave is eternal. It has, is and shall ever be.

Sometimes when I am out on the moors alone, I hear the ancient echoes of rocks and stones knocking together. BonkWave.

And if I close my eyes and relax, I will feel the ancient gravitational waves passing through and slightly distorting my mind and body (don't worry it's not dangerous, it's quite relaxing). Some of those Waves emanate from the big bang, the biggest Bonk of all (or the smallest depending on your point of view)

@polarity

Aha, thankyou! That's useful to know.

The modulators are what really attract me. Such a simple but usful idea... and something that seems really difficult to do in other DAWs

I shall ponder this

@polarity

Thanks! Is the grid the thing people are talking about, when they say they made a synth or instrument in bitwig?

2024-12-22

Bitwig users, can you tell me, is #Bitwig Essentials worth getting or is it a just laughable parody of Bitwig proper?

@futzle @AlgoCompSynth

Reminds me of Shakespeare's gravestone... Check out the contractions. I really like the way they carved 'that' as like a vertical TY... and contracted letters like the TH in THE into one symbol...

@futzle @AlgoCompSynth

Where I grew up, dialectical forms if thee, thou, thy, thissen were still in use locally

It's interesting that generally people think of them as very formal and fancy, whereas originally they're what you'd use informally with people you felt close to
