Frog hefts the empowered Masamune skyward. Blue, sparkling energy beams to the heavens. No mountain will prevent his righteous vengeance.

A nice vertical shooter with Greek Mythology theming by the venerable Compile. Maybe not their best game but very solid and I enjoyed it. By this point they were masters of the form.

I can't believe this game came out in 1994. It looks amazing. Pitch perfect use of the X-Men license. Capcom nailed it, and then continued to nail it for years after.

Chrono Trigger continues, and it's all bangers for quite a long stretch. Met a shady old man, learned magic from a cutie, crossed a skeleton bridge. Next time, we meet cavewoman Ayla and help Frog get his groove back. After that, we assault Magus' castle.

The gang gathers around Gaspar, the guru of time, who spends the whole game stationary under a street lamp at the end of time dispensing exposition which is sometimes too vague, possibly due to mistranslation.

Lucca, Crono and Marle celebrate after besting Spekkio, Master of War in combat and being awarded the ability to cast magic spells. Robo could not participate because he has no soul, apparently. That's okay, though, because lasers are better.

Crono tries out his new ability by calling lighting down to zap a skeleton on Zenan bridge.

Marle, likewise, uses her ice magic on Zombor, a giant skeleton made of smaller skeletons. He's basically three skeletons in a trench coat.

Dark Souls on CRT perseveres.

I never realized how pink Anor Londo is until the CRT color saturation revealed it as such.

Cyclopeon gothic architecture dwarves any undead who now enter the abandoned city of the so-called Gods.

Gwynevere, Daughter of Sunlight, lounges sanguinely. Her beauty is uncanny, supernormal, platonic.

A charming shoot 'em up where you play as a cute little dragon on a quest to remove a wizard's curse from his princess friend!

Pretty breezy, until a boss randomly melts all 9 of your lives in short order.

Little Coryoon greets his princess friend at the castle balcony in an idyllic fantasy land, unaware that a treacherous wizard will shortly put a curse upon her.

Against a stunning red sunset Coryoon battles a fearsome giant bird boss.

At the end of his quest Coryoon faces an evil dragon doppelganger! Sickly clouds whip by at high speed, framing their intense battle.

Coryoon, victorious, reunites with his beloved princess, the curse upon her removed.

This first 2300 AD section is always a necessary reminder that Chrono Trigger is great but not flawless. This part is just too long and could've been cut down. The scene where you witness Lavos destroying the world is an all-timer, though, and Robo is best boy. ❤️

This beat-'em-up is pretty bad, frankly. I didn't enjoy it, and didn't finish it. BUT... It's got good graphics and anime cut-scenes, making it a fine subject for #scanlinesunday!

In front of a sci-fi cloning machine Anett swings her sword at a villainous bishounen.

Really wish there was a photo mode, or just some way to freeze the game.

Having scaled Sen's Fortress you look back on the bell tower of the Undead Parish cutting through the mist and stabbing at the lonely sky.

A hidden bonfire secreted away for more deductive undead to discover. One last small respite before the scope of your journey is irrevocably broadened.
