She called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy
school. Her name was Justine Washington but she was known professionally as Baby Washington or Jeanette "Baby" Washington. She had meager success on the pop charts, just barely making the Billboard Top 40 with "That's How Heartaches Are Made," which peaked at No. 40 where it remained for only one week. She did far better on Billboard's Rhythm and Blues chart. Her biggest hit there seems to have been "Only Those in Love," which got to No. 10 and charted for nine weeks. "Let Love Go By" is a deep catalog cut, never making the Top 40.
Back in the mid-1950s, Baby Washington was in the vocal group, The Hearts, which hit with "Lonely Nights" (1955)."
