Even with total cloud cover, that total solar eclipse was freaking awesome. It helped that I was up on the roof of the building and had a clear 360 degree view of the surrounding area. You could track the darkness as it moved over us from horizon to horizon.
I need to plan a trip to Iceland in 2026, although according to the map, parts of Greenland will be right smack under the path. That might be better viewing.
I confess today is not going to be a productive day. I'm trying to find something to do for now and then 2:30 or so I'm going up on the roof to see what a total solar eclipse through 92% cloud cover looks like.
Yes, we are smack in the path of a total solar eclipse, and it's cloudy AF out. Saturday, mostly clear, Sunday clear skies, Tuesday mostly clear. Today? Overcast AF. Dammit!
I updated the custom computer system I made to help me photograph the 2017 #TotalSolarEclipse. It now has a graphic display, more user input, and new software to use this hardware and to help photograph the eclipse this April. It uses data from NASA and a GPS receiver to work out when totality will occur to within a second. It also presents data on the sun position to help make a wide-angle time-lapse of the event.
