“Close” is a profoundly beautiful and intimate story of boyhood. I urge you to see it.

On December 25, AFS Cinema has four screenings, three of films I have seen (and will see again), but “EO” is new to me. (5:15 PM, $13.50 or $9.50 for members.)
“EO is a thrillingly imaginative piece of filmmaking: a strange, haunting epic about a donkey that couldn’t feel more of our moment.” — NPR

(The other screenings are Fantasia, The Thin Man, and Eyes Wide Shut. I have a conflict all day, so I can’t make it.)
I saw this wonderful film, Federico Fellini’s “Nights of Cabiria,” a year ago, today, at AFS Cinema. Starring Giulietta Masina, it won the 1957 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
