@netaviator according to #peeringdb AS15943 has even less bandwidth at DE-CIX (100 vs 400 G), but probably also fewer customers. Both also present at AMS-IX. AS15943 again with half the capacity of AS60294. No obvious reason for poor peering performance as far as I can tell.

The #AMSIX outage is still ongoing for about 18 hours now and re-occurred 9:38 CET after what looked like a recovery in the morning. Interesting to see how little this hits the news. Impact clearly visible in latencies.
That's pretty massive:
Upgrades at AMS-IX result in 85% power reduction
"[T]he power consumption of the customer facing switches at Equinix AM5 has been significantly reduced, from 52.8 kilowatts to 8.2 kilowatts, representing an 85% decrease."

I recall fondly my very very first week of on-call in 2003 for a city ISP in #Hamburg. Just got my driver's license, which I did not require before on-call. Very first call out was for "The #AMSIX router at Interxion Science Park in Amsterdam needs an immediate upgrade, grab a bigger controller card and drive there, tonight!" 😬 #engineering #neteng
