page from a gag bonus story for the yugioh arcv manga. at the top of the page is a big sign that reads "first maiami beach hot guy swimsuit contest 2017". the contestants are shown to be shun, in his jacket and a speedo and nothing else; yuuto, wearing tight black swim shorts with his goffik cuffs and collars; shingo, wearing loose cat-print swim trunks and winking at the spectators. then we see yuzu looking worried and saying "do you think yuuya can win?" and shuuzou her dad says, hand on chin, "kurosaki and sawatari are surprisingly strong contestants...."

everything about shingo is perfect. absolute top tier character design. his hair is impeccable and has an instantly recognizable silhouette. he should have been the official rival

i'm supposed to be re-reading the arcv manga to focus on a different ship but this akasawa bait is impossible to ignore. what's their backstory if akaba/leo corp just showed up one day? how did they cross paths? where are shingo's expectations coming from in this canon?
