Being at #AccessU feels like how I expected college to be. Learning cool stuff during the day and hanging out with cool people at night maybe with a beer in hand.

At the coolest accessibility conference Knowability’s #AccessU
I really am not great at self-promotion. I failed to mention my #AccessU talk yesterday.
But I have another one today. This one’s technical and all about HTML tables:
https://knowbility.org/programs/john-slatin-accessu-2025/talkin-tables
2:15pm. Be there or be elsewhere.
I’ll have a bunch of these 3" / 7.6cm (on the long edge) vinyl stickers with me at #AccessU. No need to come to my sessions; just find me.
Am not there today. Awaiting my next flight.
Used up my white over-ear KN-95s while at #AccessU (still disappointed there were maybe three of us masked). In addition to new white ones I got these swell green ones so I can feel a bit more festive.
With my luck the green dye is probably toxic and made from puppy skin and takes an extra thousand years to break down and is spontaneous-flammable.
Anyway, yay masks.
I am at my first #AccessU conference. It is quite possibly the best conference experience I have had with a conference for deep learning and comradery. I am among my people, and would recommend this to anyone serious about digital accessibility. Thanks #Knowbility @knowbility
Next week is a fun milestone for me! I'm finally coming back to #AccessU (hosted by @knowbility), where I gave my first-ever accessibility talk. I'll be giving my biggest, most detailed workshop ever! It's going to be a blast.
Plus, Global Accessibility Awareness Day (#GAAD) wraps up the week!
If you're going to AccessU this year, please hit me up!
I'd love to chat and connect, especially since I'm going to miss Wednesday night's networking event!
Anyone going to #AccessU this year and want to catch up? Also, I’ll be presenting with my colleague from UKG, Bruno Torquato, and I will be presenting “Straight Talk: What Disabled People Want You to Know When Designing Your Product” on May 14. (Wanted to post the schedule link but the page is throwing an error at the moment, so here’s the home page for the conference: https://knowbility.org/programs/accessu-2024
I keep forgetting to mention that I am doing a workshop at #AccessU in a couple weeks:
https://knowbility.org/programs/accessu-2024/prototyping-accessibility
107 slides (so far), 4 group exercises, 3 hours, pencil and/or paper.
I’ll be speaking about what it’s like to work as an accessibility engineer at #AccessU in May

I’ll be presenting @knowbility #AccessU this May.
Join us for “Accessibility Testing LIVE!”
https://knowbility.org/programs/john-slatin-accessu-2023/accessibility-testing-live
This May at Knowbility's AccessU conference (May 9-12) I'm presenting the most ambitious talk of my career so far. I will be discussing Critical Accessibility Theory and how understanding it's tenets can help companies, organizations, and practitioners progress toward truly accessible technology for people with disabilities.

Thank you @knowbility for selecting my talk “Accessibility Testing LIVE!” for #AccessU 2023
Call for proposals for John Slatin AccessU 2023 is now open (deadline Jan 23) https://knowbility.org/programs/john-slatin-accessu-2023/call-for-proposals #a11y #events #accessU
I hadn’t seen this GitHub issue before writing and holding my #AccessU talk that will be released on May 5, but this is an aspect that I talk about: The confusion on which #accessibility spec is actually responsible, leading to imprecise guidance. https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/7796 #xp
That time @vavroom@twitter.com was not OK with the number of slides in my #AccessU presentation…
