Dr Clare Duffy is the artistic director of Civic Digits:
Civic Digits is a data-driven creative learning theatre company that creates participant-led, immersive performances. The work focuses on empowering young people, their families, communities, institutions, and ultimately society to think critically about the dangers of data-driven technology, to protect themselves and others, and to fully benefit from its opportunities.
Clare created Many Good Men in February 2024 at Hearts Football Club after co-writing it with two groups of young people in Edinburgh. Many Good Men is a piece of digital forum theatre addressing the radicalisation of masculinity, incel culture and the manosphere. “Essential viewing for our time, not only for young people but for everyone who cares about their future.” ★★★★ THE SCOTSMAN
Civic Digits also created The Big Data Show a digitally interactive live and hybrid performance about privacy, hacking and the value of data, which over 4000 young people ages 10 – 13 have participated in since 2017. It is part of the accredited course: “An Introduction to Cyber Resilience and Digital Citizenship”. Other on-going projects include Bad Actor and A.I and Planet Earth.

Adrian Hon said:
Theatre has been the trailblazer for “immersive experiences” throughout history, from installation art and site-specific performance to virtual reality games and live action role playing. I’m incredibly excited to work with the Traverse in exploring where theatre can lead us next in the rapidly-growing immersive universe.
