Today for a change I went to do some #karate with a friend who had recently started it. #Shuyokai in #Kirkkonummi. Good spirit and practise. And even ended up with taisabaki and a technique very much like ikkyo from #aikido.
Hope I get a chance to visit some other time!

1) That feeling when you return to a familiar routine after a while & remember why you liked that routine in the first place.
2) #Aikido training again after being away. (I like to train wherever I travel if I can, but it was not possible.)

VERY INTENSIVE
No complaint about too mild attacks, nobody hurt so, splendid!

@3morereps potentially interested. I just personally have struggled a bit with some of the students of Endo and their #aikido (which can get a bit abstract...). But then I haven't experienced Luis so could pop round for at least one session.

He is from Spain, i personally like a lot his style of performing the techniques and the way he explains.
Amazing teacher!
He teaches in English and Spanish (with translation to English).

@driusan I think it's really good that you're doing this work. I was just talking to a friend & fellow #aikido practitioner recently about how one of the more unpleasant results of the divides between the different schools is that practices can tend to get reified and really amazingly embodied arts get siloed and are in danger of being lost. I get that some people are invested in this or that #feud, but I for one just want to deepen my knowledge & ability in our wonderful #nonviolent #martialart
@driusan Relatedly, have you heard anything about (or considered setting up) a @peertube instance for collecting & hosting #Aikido videos? The only really serious attempt I've found so far is the channel @additional_techniques There is of course a lot on #YouTube, but that's not without its problems; it could potentially be really nice to have a place devoted to freely sharing knowledge & techniques.

Always a pleasure to go to #Mathildedal for the annual #aikido weapons seminar, courtesy of Petteri #Silenius (7th Dan). Sadly only one practise for me this weekend as so many things going on. But it’s also a lovely, picturesque village for a day trip with a couple nice restaurants and cafes, their own brewery, a tidy wee harbour and quality bakery.
