#ArduinoFile

OK. I know it's not an #applelisaclone but my #applelisa successfully booted my #arduinofile ! Few steps backwards today. The SIMM sockets were the wrong dimensions! So I've a box full of them needing a project. The resistor arrays for the GALSCSI arrived and they're installed. That card, the parallel card and now the arduinofile are all complete. IO card just waiting on its prom. I can then test that in the Lisa. CPU is waiting on prom, cpu and 2148's. Cable for video yet to be made as I changed my mind and am awaiting on a cable to hack it with. Will be better once arrived.

Built a second (v4 boards) for the . Happy with how it turned out. In an effort to keep the cable as short as possible, I turned it into a “backpack” of sorts by securing the DB25 to the board with some twisted wire. Neat and tidy! And of course, using rainbow cable is a must! 🌈

An ArduinoFile board, a rectangular green circuit board with an SD card reader, some circuit components, and a rainbow ribbon cable exiting the right. Backside of the ArduinoFile which is an Arduino Mega board. This one is white and says elegoo on it. A DB25 male connector is on the left. Detail of the back and side of the ArduinoFile showing a DB25 port secured with twisted wire. An ArduinoFile plugged into an Apple Lisa motherboard parallel port. The ArduinoFile is sitting up right perpendicular to the motherboard.

Wait, what’s this? It looks like an Atari ST screen? And it’s running on my ?!

This is from Digital Research (the CP/M folks) for the .

The Lisa and GEMDOS was the first development kit for Atari ST TOS which I find fascinating.

It can boot from both floppy () or install it to the ProFile ().

I followed these instructions:

A messy desk with stacks of free circuit boards to the right, a display at the top showing the GEM desktop, a mouse at the bottom, and lots of wires running haphazardly everywhere. A screenshot of the GEM desktop environment. It looks almost like the Atari ST TOS desktop and fairly reminiscent of the LisaOS.

I also discovered an issue with that was preventing it from accessing data in hard drive images over ~16MB in size (while in MacWorks). Figured out the issue and now I’m almost running out of space on a 32MB image 😅

If you’re curious, you can read about the R/W issue I was having with the in this GitHub issue.
