The movie Argylle is terrible. You spend the first thirty minutes thinking wow, what a cast, and the premise is interesting enough…… the second thirty minutes getting more and more bored with how bad it is…… and then, well, we gave up on the last twenty five minutes of it. Plot was ridiculous to the point of being unwatchable, none of the acting was great. From the guy that made the excellent Layer Cake, too.

I watched “Argylle”, for which AppleTV+ paid $200M. Director Matthew Vaughn says it’s like Diehard, Lethal Weapon, and Romancing the Stone. But to me, Argylle is almost a remake of The Long Kiss Goodnight (which also stars Samuel Jackson) and Mr. Right (which also stars Sam Rockwell). Which are both great movies I have watched several times. Why would a director attribute the wrong source material? And also weird that he promoted Henry Cavill as the star when the film is really about Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell’s characters.
As for #argyllemovie, I agree with everyone — too convoluted, too much CGI, and too long. But in addition, tho I love Rockwell, he’s just way too old and his face is so polished, it’s distracting. And BD Howard has such a matronly butt. Neither are convincing as action stars. I guess blame the pandemic for some weird casting in 2021. 🤪😳🥸
I'm really not surprised it was a box office flop, I think it was competing for an Oscar in the "so bad it's good category". I'm pretty shocked they managed to spend $200M on it - maybe all on CGI and actor salaries.

If I gleaned anything from watching #ArgylleMovie, it's that the fanfiction for Argylle/Wyatt in the Elly Conway section of AO3 must be WILD.
Saw #ArgylleMovie and was pleasantly surprised. It went from stupid to clever and then did a couple more barrell rolls.
#SamRockwell loves an interesting movie and #BryceDallasHoward is going on my list of actors to watch.
It's a #MatthewVaughan movie but with fun variations on the unpredictableness of the formula.
The first of the songs was fittingly a Bond-esque song. Might need to look into getting the film soundtrack. #ArianaDeBose

Both #BryceDallasHoward and #SamRockwell are terrific in this, though I seriously question the hair and costume choice for Bryce in the last section of the film. #HenryCavill is absolutely terrific and plays the perfect pitch.

I saw #Argylle #ArgylleMovie last night, and for the most part, I really enjoyed it. It's quirky and funny and over the top, and there are quite a few twists. There is at least one segment, though, that goes even past over-the-top, and that didn't have the effect on me that I suspect they wanted.
There is a mid-credits scene that you won't want to miss, and hopefully, you won't get spoiled for. 1/3
