Pulmonary diseases are less-than-zero fun. I'd not wish my yesterday on more than a scant handful of people.

So far, today is better. My chest is a little tight, but I can breathe without undue discomfort or the use of my nebulizer. I'll likely need it this afternoon, but I hope not, as I'm still pretty wiped out from three Albuterol vials and the coughing/choking fits that came with it.

Here's to a quiet day of easier breathing & #CreatingART.

My kiddos were here for our monthly gaming weekend, so I missed posting on #Caturday. To make up for it, here's our rangy boy this morning telling the (human) kitty daddy, "No internet for you until I get pets! And, while you're at it, would you kindly dim that lightβ€½"

As a friend once told me, "Dogs have masters; cats have staff."

An orange and white tabby cat spread across his owner's mousepad, mouse, and keyboard. His face is turned towards the bright light of an out-of-frame desk lamp, his eyes shut tight. His demeanor seems to say, "No internet for you until I get pets! And, while you're at it, would you kindly dim that lightβ€½"

UPDATE, Art (drawing practice)

This practice exercise required rectangles in two columns, with all internal sections shaded from left to right, lightest to darkest in Chiaroscuro fashion. Above each rectangle are instructions for the individual portions of this exercise, with the left column using the pencil tip only and the right column using the full length of the lead.

NOTE: image corrected for Rotation & White Balance.

Today's sketch practice, plus testing different point sizes.

There are some really nice pencil sets out there, but at $7 & change, this #MrPen set is perfect for testing the feel and other differences in graphite sizes/weight.

I'll continue the row hatching exercises for another week or two, because I want to self-determine the lengths and gaps instead of being determined by my lack of skill.

"They look so innocent when they're sleeping."

I remember saying the same about my human bebbies, too.

Yesterday's #SketchingDrills - more hatching

I can see some improvement just from these few days. There aren't as many hooks on the line ends, and there are fewer heavy clumps of lines.

I've discovered that I prefer mechanical pencils for this sort of work, as opposed to a basic #2 which requires sharpening way too often.

I need to work on keeping the top and bottom of each row even.

This is a picture of a white sheet of paper on a yellow-green clipboard. The sheet has been sectioned into six equal rectangles (with ample whitespace for notes around the boxes and at the bottom of the page). Each box is filled with rows of small vertical lines, accomplished with variations of method/material so the artist can improve her drawing skills and find combinations that work best for her.

Before we run, we learn to walk.
Before we walk, we reach and stand.
Before we cross-hatch, we practice hatch.

Getting these lines down so they look consistently good is going to require a lot more practice. I should make this a #Habitica Daily until I draw them even and easily from muscle memory.

I'm devoting time this year to level up my drawing and sketching proficiency. No more will I envy fellow artists, as these skills only require mindful practice to improve!

Lower grid results surprised me given the silicone-tip tool trend. Natural brushes are great if the bristles are compact and firm; just gotta convince the #BrainJays it's OKAY to alter MY OWN TOOLS!
