🥥 On the battle of #BarbieHeimer at the box office: Let us remember that no one had ever played with an #Oppenheimer doll wheras millions upon millions of little girls HAD played with Barbie dolls, and just a bit smaller number of little boys had played doctor with them.
Thus there was a built-in audience for one film and not the other.

Toen ik 14 was gingen mijn oudere zus en haar vriendin op de bank zitten om te roken. Ik mocht ook en nam een trekje. En ik besloot: dan maar niet stoer.

Barbie is an existential mess dolled up in bubblegum pink. Funny how that works.

It's not a good movie. But it's also kinda not terrible?

It's no different than any number of movies that are utterly stupid - all spectacle and no substance. But lo! this one's targeted at women. THAT'S what this year's iteration of GamerGate loserbros are crying about.

Beyond that, the #Barbieheimer meme is very appropriate. There's a current of existential absurdity running through both.
