This movie was developed at the same time as Mary Poppins (1964). Walt Disney started with this movie, decided it was too complicated technically, and switched over to Mary Poppins (1964). They switched back and forth between movies a few times. They intended to drop this movie permanently at one point, but the Sherman brothers, who did the music for both projects, insisted that Disney finish it after they were done with Mary Poppins (1964).

The song "The Beautiful Briny Sea" was originally written for a sequence in Mary Poppins (1964) that was ultimately dropped.

The animation in “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” was headed up by two of Disney’s “Nine Old Men”: Ward Kimball (directed) and Milt Kahl (designer)

@MatthewTitus88 Basically it comes down to the herbs they’d use (most likely hyoscine AKA scopolamine) being anointed via muscosal membranes AKA umm witch crotch (it was often said that witches would ride their brooms in states of un dress) and go for ~wild rides~ (AKA trippin’ balls)
