Hello #ttrpg folks! Something in passing at #BigBadCon has me still thinking, in both historian & game designer. Here's the thing, from someone who was there:
The Forge was an open-membership "book club", with a mission statement, & once it did what it was there to do, it folded intentionally, in a systematic way.
It did not implode in drama.
It was not a toxic space that ate itself (although there were plenty of folks who bounced off it!)
Mostly what happened?
People Had Kids.
@evilhat I got to play the Interface playbook at #BigBadCon with Michael Sands as the GM and it was awesome!
Can't wait for these books to be in my hands!
I had a lovely con, but wanted to shout out an impending kickstarter for a Belonging Outside of Belonging game I got to try out and really enjoyed.

Runaway kids with superpowers.
Showed off some artwork and demoed my storytelling game at Big Bad Con this year!
Can’t wait for the next one.

Home from #bigbadcon (finally)
It was amazing and i had a lot of fun playing everything. Full con report tomorrow (if I have time and nothing burned down at work)
Most of all, met:
1. Most of the Evil Hat folks I’ve been working with for ten years now.
2. Lots of people I knew only via the internet.
3. Lots of new friends via games and ad hoc meetings.
4. A bunch of friendly and enthusiastic Monster of the Week fans.
Also went to a couple of panels, one on violence (extremely thought provoking) and another on Irish myth and folklore in games (speaker was extremely funny, also some good tips on the topic)
Games played at Big Bad Con:
1. Zhenya’s Wonder Tales (dark east European inspired fairy tales, brilliant—I got drowned and eaten)
2. Monster of the Week (obviously)
3. Echoing City Foundations (urban fantasy city creation, really fun)
4. Villagesong (village leaders working for their community and the other leaders, absolutely great)
5. Avatar the Last Airbender (really cool intro adventure, intrigued by rules bits)
6. A secret larp playtest (awkward and funny)
#BigBadCon folks; please find me? I’m going through all your cards and looking for you 😊

Goodbye San Francisco! That was an amazing time at Big Bad Con.
#BigBadCon
monster panel, discussing aspects of monsters:
Sometimes "monstrous" is "out of place" or just something we lack context for.
What drives the monstrous? Survival is interesting, but what other motivations are available to a monster?
How is a monster integrated into it's environment? is there rumor, folklore, etc?
I am not livetweeting #BigBadCon panels because 1) my tablet has died a quiet death so I lack a mobile device with a real keyboard 2) masked panelists mean I can't lip-read and so I miss every third word or so 3) twitter has turned into a shit show and I didn't go there anymore.
but there will be at least a little bit coming out here because today is the day I'm going to panels.
If you're at #BigBadCon, and not booked solid, come check out pirateROBO, my post-apocalyptic guerrilla mech #CortexRPG session: https://www.bigbadcon.com/events/piraterobo-2/
#BigBadCon is dang cool, y'all.
Saturday at Big Bad Con: less full-on, but still full-on. A couple of fun panels, played Villagesong (highly recommend, lovely game), met and chatted with so many people (newly met, met earlier in con, online friends). Everyone has been friendly and welcoming, the vibe is wonderful.
First full day of @bigbadcon was a great time!
Met and chatted to loads of people, played some great games, wonderful. Now I am very tired, and looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow.
