Today was the first day I was able to ride a bike in a month due to an infection in one of my toes. It's the longest I've ever gone without riding a bike (as a cyclist) since I started in 1996. There have been times where I might have been off for 2 weeks because of a sinus infection or some other respiratory illness. A month without something that's just a part of most days is a long time.
Thankfully, some antibiotics have gradually taken care of the problem, and I got the green light on Thursday to resume training. The downside is that I've probably lost 10% of the fitness I'd spent most of the year building. That makes this year's #cyclocross season a bit of a bust, which is definitely disappointing after spending a lot of time training for it, and I was just coming off a 3rd place in my second race of the season.
Now, it's time to start getting ready for 2026. ON-season starts in earnest on Monday. But, it was so nice to be out on a bike today.
Also, I got to take in some fall colors and some of my favorite graffiti in #Akron. #WitchBattleBitches
